Dr. Ching completed his undergraduate studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and then earned his Doctorate in Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1977. He has since practiced in Saratoga, opening Saratoga Vision in December 1984. Dr. Ching is a primary eye care optometrist with sub-specialties in treating many eye diseases and also hard to fit contact lenses such as astigmatism and multifocal lenses. Dr. Ching is an active member of the New York State Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association and affiliate of TLC Laser Eye Center. Dr. Ching enjoys long walks with his australian shepherd, Poppy, and spending time with family, including his 8 grandchildren.

Dr. Carson is a graduate of Penn State University and the Illinois College of Optometry, and is New York State-Certified in the treatment of eye diseases. He began private practice in 1982 and partnered with Saratoga Vision in 1984. Dr. Carson is the treasurer of the Ballston Spa Lions Club, and a member of the American Optometric Association, and the New York State Optometric Association. He is also an affiliate of TLC Laser Eye Center and manages pre and post operative care for laser vision correction. In his freetime, Dr. Carson enjoys skiing and golf. He also likes to spend as muchtime as possible with his two young grandchildren, Haley and Connor.
After a long and successful career, Dr. Carson has retired from practicing optometry.

Dr. Griffin, a native to Saratoga Springs, attended Rensselaer PolytechnicInstitute for her undergraduate studies in biology. She then attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where she earned her Bachelor of Vision Science in 2005 and Doctor of Optometry degree in 2007. After graduation, she joined the practice with her father, Dr. Ching. Dr. Griffin practices primary care optometry, including fitting contact lenses and treating eye diseases such as glaucoma, dry eye disease and blepharitis. She also participates with the InfantSEE program for babies 6-12 months old. Dr. Griffin is also an affiliate doctor of TLC Laser Eye Center managing pre-and post operative care for laser vision correction and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the New York State Optometric Association. Dr. Griffin continues to live in her hometown with her husband and 4 children and enjoys horseback riding in her free time.

Dr. Brown joined Saratoga Vision in 2016 and lives in Ballston Spa with her husband. Dr. Brown is an active member of the New York State Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Sorgie first came to the practice as a New Vision student in 2014. She fell in love with the field of Optometry after shadowing one of our original partners; Dr. Carson. She went on to achieve honors studying Biomedical Science at the State University of New York at Oneonta where she received her Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Anthropology. From there, she moved to Boston and earned her Doctorate at The New England College of Optometry. Dr. Sorgie completed 2 internships at Veteran Hospitals where she found her passion in managing ocular disease. As a primary care Optometrist, Dr. Sorgie offers traditional spectacle and contact lens evaluations. She has expanded her scope to offer specialty rigid lens fittings and advanced dry eye therapy. She is an active member of the NYS Optometric Association, as well as the American Optometric Association. In her downtime, Dr. Sorgie can be found browsing isles of the Saratoga Public Library or searching for treasures at local thrift stores.

Dr. Maeda graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Spanish from the University at Albany. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry, in Manhattan. Dr. Maeda is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the New York State Optometric Association. She specializes in ocular disease management with a focus on dry eye disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, amblyopia and diabetic retinopathy. She also provides primary optometric care and speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish.
During her optometric studies, she completed rotations at the Albany Stratton Veteran Affairs Medical Center and at the New York University Student Health Center. As a student, Dr. Maeda was the president of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists (FCO), SUNY Optometry chapter. She organized and led an international medical missions trip where she and a group of volunteers provided free eye exams and glasses to the indigenous Mixtec mountain villages in Oaxaca, Mexico.
After graduating optometry school, she then served for several years providing comprehensive and problem-oriented eye exams in Spanish to a largely immigrant and low income patient population in a federally qualified community health center in downstate NY. Dr. Maeda then decided to return to upstate NY to move closer to family and joined the Saratoga Vision team. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her young niece and nephews, and serving in her local church community.
